Local Triathlon Icon Dr. Mike Halstead Wins Big at Alpha Win’s First Annual Saugerties Triathlon

Saugerties, NY (October 14, 2021) The first annual Saugerties Triathlon in Alpha Win’s hometown of Saugerties, NY took place this holiday weekend on Monday October 11th. The event kicked off with a swim at Saugerties Village Beach and participants then biked through the beautiful autumnal foliage of Ulster and Greene Counties, finishing with a run through the streets of Saugerties.

It was an action packed day here in the Village of Saugerties, featuring both Olympic distance and Sprint distance races. Kids even joined in on the fun with our first annual Splash and Dash benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Ulster County.

The Olympic Distance Male race was won by 19-year-old Justin Layer in a blazing time of 02:13:39. The Overall Female Olympic winner was Erika Martin with a rapid time of 02:29:58.

The Sprint Male race featured legendary triathletes battling it out for top honors. Mike Halstead secured the win in the inaugural Saugerties Sprint Triathlon, after a friendly rivalry with fellow competitor Arthur Boyko. Halstead is revered in the triathlon community as an inspirational competitor, who is a brain cancer survivor and USAT All-American. He shared his post-race thoughts with us:

“The Saugerties Triathlon was a great event with three great courses. The volunteers were excellent! It was a perfect way for me to finish up this year’s triathlon season. I will be back at the Saugerties Triathlon in 2022!”

Halstead is also an Alpha Win coach, and led the Alpha Win Lake George Tri Camp earlier this year. Stephanie Hanrahan highlighted the group of athletes who trained with Halstead at the tri camp with a 3rd place Overall Female finish in the Alpha Olympic distance in her first ever Olympic race.

After the success of this year’s Saugerties Triathlon, Alpha Win is excited to announce the addition of a 70.3 race to next year’s event. Vice President of Operations and 2-time US Olympian Dan Browne will be instrumental in the planning for next year, and shared some of his thoughts on race day:

“I am very pleased with the organization and outcome of this triathlon here in Alpha Win’s hometown. With this being our inaugural event, I could not be more pleased with how our team came together to put on a great event for the people of this Village. As we continue to grow this race, we are committed as a team to continue to bring a great experience for competitors and the community alike. Events like this provide great value to the community, and we strive to build on what we accomplished at our inaugural triathlon”

Browne is a former member of the 2004 US Olympic Track & Field team in the marathon and 10,000m, and now serves as a member of the US National Guard.

The first annual Saugerties Triathlon could not have taken place without the help of the volunteers, Saugerties Police, Saugerties Village, and more. The Saugerties Village Beach provided a perfect location for a triathlon and due to the continual effort from Saugerties Mayor Bill Murphy, the beach is a clean and safe place for both kids and athletes to splash or train.

Saugerties, NY (January 22, 2021)      HITS Endurance, a leading endurance race management group, announced today a rebrand of its identity and mission that reflects a deep dedication to athletes and their commitment to excellence in competition and health and wellness.  At the heart of this rebranding is a change of the company name to Alpha Win and a complete redesign of the company logo to reflect the new name.  Over the past decade, the company had established its status as a market leader in the triathlon and running communities.  The new brand solidifies the company’s stance in offering a wide variety of racing opportunities and unparalleled customer service.

Coinciding with the unveiling of the new brand, Alpha Win is launching a new website (www.Alpha.Win) that focuses on its first 10 years of race experiences and features improved search tools for locating the perfect race for athletes at all competitive levels.

“Our vision is to make every athlete who competes at an Alpha Win event feel like the dominant, AlphaMale or AlphaFemale that he or she can be. Whether it is a podium finish, an age group win or a personal best, every AlphaMale or AlphaFemale will feel a sense of accomplishment at our races,” said Tommy Struzzieri, President and CEO of Alpha Win.  “The rebrand is not just cosmetic.  We have taken this opportunity to commence a period of growth through acquisitions of existing events and creation of new events and to evolve and improve our approach to the market as a whole.”

Alpha Win recently acquired the race lineup of Renegade Racing, a premier race management group with events centered in Southern California.  Alpha Win has also acquired the Lake George Triathlon Festival, a popular race that takes place in the Village of Lake George, New York during Labor Day Weekend.  Along with acquisitions, Alpha Win is returning to Grand Junction, Colorado to resurrect an annual triathlon that it had produced for several years before a hiatus beginning in 2016. Alpha Win Lake George and Alpha Win Grand Junction registrations are now open. As the future of the pandemic becomes clearer, Alpha will start to open registration for Renegade Racing events.

“We have several other first-time events and race acquisitions that we are pursuing right now that will continue to fill out a race calendar that we hope will appeal to athletes of all abilities in all geographic locations across the United States,” said Tommy Struzzieri. “First and foremost we want to thank all of our wonderful participants who have helped us grow these last 10 years. It has been an incredible journey as HITS Endurance and now we are looking forward to the next chapter. “We expect to continue to delight the athletes who have followed us over the past years and to attract new participants who are seeking their next incredible race experience.”

Alpha Win is the successor organization of HITS Endurance, which itself was a division of HITS, LLC.  Alpha Win has been organizing endurance events under the HITS Endurance name since 2011.  HITS, LLC is a multi-faceted company with more than 40 years’ experience in event production.  Prior to 2011, its sole focus was on equestrian events that continue to take place all across the country.  It is a global leader in equestrian sports and the largest producer of hunter jumper horse shows in the country.  HITS, LLC is headquartered in upstate New York in the Village of Saugerties.

Alpha Win Acquires Southern California Race Management Group

PRESS RELEASE

Alpha Win Acquires Southern California Race Management Group

Saugerties, NY (January 22, 2021)      Alpha Win, an endurance race organization formerly known as HITS Endurance, is proud to announce that it has purchased Renegade Racing, a premier race management firm with events centered in the Southern California region.  The acquisition significantly expands the endurance race offerings available from Alpha Win in the western United States.

“Our acquisition of Renegade Racing complements our overall endurance race lineup so we can now provide more race opportunities to our ever expanding customer base,” said Tommy Struzzieri, President and CEO of Alpha Win.  “This investment represents an important strategic opportunity to further our ability to offer both short and long distance running, cycling and triathlon events in some of the most attractive locations in the country.”

In 2019, Renegade Racing operated more than 40 endurance events for itself and for others under various contractual arrangements.  The arrival of the coronavirus pandemic resulted in the cancellation of many of the events in 2020.  However, current plans are to resurrect these events in 2021 and 2022.  “We couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to hand-off our family of races to a company with the background and experience in event production that Alpha Win has,” said Jonathan Pauley, founder and former Director of Renegade Racing.  “We know that all of our stakeholders, from the permitting officials to our charity partners and our athletes will embrace Alpha Win as they have us for more than a decade.”

Over the years, Renegade has been recognized for producing safe and fun experiences for athletes of every ability. They have also contributed to the critical fundraising efforts of several charity partners, such as the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation Reaching for the Cure, the Tustin Public Schools Foundation Dino Dash, the Challenged Athletes Foundation, the City of Laguna Hills Memorial Day Half Marathon, Race for the Rescues, and the American Heart Association Heart Walk.  These partnerships are expected to continue.

Along with this acquisition, Alpha also purchased the Big George Triathlon in Lake George, NY. The Alpha Win Lake George Triathlon registration is now open. As the future of the pandemic becomes clearer, Alpha will start to open registration for Renegade Racing events. As these events restart, Alpha Win will ensure that they feature robust safety protocols until the effects of the current pandemic are fully dissipated.  Alpha Win is one of the few companies nationally that was permitted to conduct an in-person running event, the Omaha Marathon, in 2020.  That multi-distance race took place on September 20, 2020 and was hailed as both a safe and enjoyable experience as it hosted runners from 46 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
