Important information regarding WETSUITS:

Riverside County Parks and Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) have announced a wetsuit safety protocol for triathlon events using Lake Cahuilla in La Quinta, CA.  The protocol is designed to eliminate the possibility of introducing the quagga mussel into Lake Cahuilla and the CVWD water system and will be in effect for the 2024 Alpha Win Triathlon Series – Palm Springs that will take place on October 19, 2024.

Quagga mussels are freshwater mollusks capable of colonizing water bodies such as lakes, rivers, streams and water conveyance channels and pipes.   Quagga mussels multiply rapidly, with females able to produce 1 million eggs per year.  Microscopic larvae develop after fertilization, drifting in the water until finding a suitable place for attachment.  Strong threads produced by the mussel attach the shell to most surfaces and often remain attached long after the mussel has died.

In order to ensure that quagga mussels are not unknowingly transported on athletes’ wetsuits, Riverside County Parks and CVWD will require that all wetsuits be immersed in a pool containing chlorine at a concentration of 2.0 ppm for at least 15 seconds before a race participant can enter Lake Cahuilla.  Athletes who have completed this process will receive a decontamination tag for their wetsuit.  Only athletes with this tag on their wetsuit will be permitted in the lake.

Due to the number of athletes registered for the upcoming Alpha Win Triathlon Event, executing the protocol will take several hours to accomplish prior to the event.  The only way a participant can be assured of being able to complete the process and obtain a tag is if they arrive on the day prior to their race, check-in and complete the process.  Unfortunately, no one arriving on the day of their race can be assured of being able to complete the process and therefore may not be able to race.

Protecting Lake Cahuilla from the invasive quagga mussel is important to the entire Coachella Valley and to the continued ability to use the Lake Cahuilla for recreational purposes, including the popular Alpha Win Triathlon Series – Palm Springs event.

Great timing & locations with Alpha Win!

Alpha Win is filling a void with both timing and its locations. They have brought races to some of the best places in the country and have finally given triathletes options.

Thank you for an incredible race experience.

That was my first full Ironman. I would not have wanted the experience any other way. Thank you for your efforts in keeping a small town race and treating everyone there like they were family! It was awesome!

I love Alpha Win events

I love Alpha Win events because not only are the events fun and well mapped out, with multiple volunteers and police to assist you (so you are safe and know exactly where you are going) but also because the staff is exceptional!  They are so helpful and friendly! I participated in the Alpha Win Tri Camp, the Lake George Triathlon, and the Saugerties Triathlon and definitely plan on participating in the same events and attending more this year!  I highly recommend and can't even express my gratitude to all the people that make these events possible!

Great races with a personalized feel!

Last season I raced the Lake George 70.3 and the Saugerties Triathlon (Sprint), and each event was like racing with friends. The Alpha Win team recognized me, and welcomed and encouraged me before and throughout each race. I often struggle to control my race day nerves but these races felt different - they were fun while still being challenging. As soon as I crossed the finish line in Lake George 2021, I made plans to enter for 2022 as my A-race for the season. I can't say enough good things about Alpha Win - I'm looking forward to another great race season!
