Introducing the Hudson Valley Marathon at the Walkway Over the Hudson

Saugerties, NY (December 08, 2022) Alpha Win is proud to announce a new event, the Hudson Valley Marathon at the Walkway Over the Hudson! With a run directly over the Hudson River, participants will experience breathtaking views of the historic Hudson River Valley, from the Catskill Mountains to the Hudson Highlands. Alpha Win’s motto ‘A Distance for Everyone’ holds true, as the event will feature five race distances in one day including a Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1 mile race.

The event will be held on May 7, 2023, with perfectly cool weather expected and highlighted by the Marathon event, which will be a Boston and New York Marathon Qualifier and certified course. May 7 is also I Love My Park Day 2023. The annual I Love My Park Day encourages people across the state to enhance and celebrate New York’s wonderful parks. Come to enjoy the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park, stay to explore the countless hidden gems of the Hudson Valley, and qualify for your next big race.

The Walkway is conveniently located just minutes from the Poughkeepsie Train Station, making travel to the event a breeze from New York City, Albany, and beyond. Nearby historic sites including the Vanderbilt and Roosevelt estates on the Hudson River make the Hudson Valley Marathon a destination for participants and family and friends alike. The close proximity to SUNY New Paltz, Vassar College, Marist College and the Culinary Institute of America adds to the appeal of this eclectic and vibrant area.

The Walkway Over the Hudson is the longest elevated pedestrian bridge in the world. Originally the Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad Bridge, it was rebuilt as the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park and re-opened in October of 2009. Since then, the Walkway has provided a one-of-a-kind way to experience the Hudson Valley. The Walkway is fully ADA handicapped-accessible from both ends and the approach on the west is flat and level from the large parking area, and the east side features a 21-story ADA accessible glass-enclosed elevator that connects the Walkway to the waterfront and train station below.

While in the Hudson Valley, visit must-see destinations such as the Diamond Mills Hotel and Tavern in Saugerties, developed and owned by Tom Struzzieri, the founder of Alpha Win’s predecessor HITS Endurance. Join Alpha Win later in the year across New York State for the Alpha Win Triathlon Series, featuring triathlons in the Hudson Valley, Lake George, and our hometown of Saugerties.
