Sarasota Triathlon a Big Success

Sarasota, FL (January 15, 2022) The 4th annual Alpha Win – Sarasota Triathlon, which took place on January 9 at Nathan Benderson Park, was a sunny start to the 2022 racing season for many athletes. Participants came from 35 states and four countries to race! The event kicked off at 8am with the Half-distance athletes in the water, followed by the Sprint distance, and later the Olympic distance competitors.

It was an action-packed day as participants swam in the world-class lake at Nathan Benderson Park, biked through the streets of Sarasota, and ran a beautiful, scenic, course through the Park. The first finisher of the day was Carter Schumacher, finishing the Sprint triathlon in a time of 1:03:56 – he is only 18 and has a bright future ahead of him in the sport! The First Overall Female Sprint finisher was Nicole Isaak in a time of 1:27:37.

The Olympic race was won by Quinton Kneeland in 2:15:37. Louise Amyx won top honors as the First Overall Female in the Olympic distance in a time of 2:42:45.

The Half race featured tight competition: Gabrielle Suver was not only the First Female, but also the First Overall Finisher, in a time of 4:45:56. Christopher Van Smith followed close behind in 4:48:03, winning the top spot for the men.

In the hunt for a new Guinness World Record for most 70.3 distance races in one year, seasoned competitor Samuel Crozier chose to include the Alpha Win Sarasota Triathlon as his 39th Half distance triathlon since May 2021.  He plans to blow the old record of 24 in one year out of the water by completing 50 races by May 2022.

The Alpha Win – Sarasota Triathlon was a great success due in large part to the assistance of Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, Ryder Bikes for their bike tech support and, of course, the volunteers. Check out the results here.
